John was on his way home from a meeting in Santa Monica on Friday afternoon via Pacific Coast Highway. When he saw how beautiful and calm the ocean was he called me to ask how fast I could have the boat seaproofed for a trip out to the islands. Woohoo!! I have been so antsy to get off the dock and have been keeping the boat provisioned on the chance we could get out to the islands - I was ready!
We felt like we owned the ocean, we hadn't seen another boat when John spotted a sailboat on the horizon. I looked through the binoculars, what John thought was a sail was actually three whales spouting! We changed course to get a closer look but this was the best pic I could get:
We got back on course to Yellowbanks and arrived just as the sun was setting:
We spent the night at Yellowbanks (we were the only boat in the anchorage) and in the morning moved up the island to Coches Prietos:
After our yummy crab lunch we went on a dinghy cruise to Willows Anchorage (very disappointed we didn't find Constellation anchored there):
Seagulls were having a peaceful day on the beach:
Until we arrived:
Sunday morning we headed back to Yellowbanks....
...for lunch before heading back to Ventura:
Happy Valentine's Day to all!!
